In some cases, a damaged tooth may need to be repaired with a filling.

Your teeth may need to be repaired with a filling it they are:

  • Decayed
  • Cracked or chipped
  • Worn down
  • Spaced apart

Dental fillings Spring Valley is a great, simple way to keep your affected teeth from rotting out or progressing into more serious problems requiring procedures such as root canals and dental implants. Dental fillings are offered in different materials, including:

  • Amalgam
  • Porcelain
  • Composite Resin
  • Gold

Amalgam dental fillings have been around the longest, as early as 1900. Many people have had amalgam fillings placed in their mouths since then. Amalgam fillings are the cheapest, most durable option for dental fillings.

However, many reports have surfaced somewhat recently questioning the mercury content that is present in an amalgam filling. Typically, these fillings are made with about half mercury and half silver and other metals such as tin. As such, many people have become worried and respond by opting to remove their current amalgam filling and replace it with a documented safer alternative, such as porcelain or composite resin.

Removing amalgam requires an experienced 89113 dentist, one who will not expose your mouth to the harmful vapors of mercury upon removal. The dentist 89113 applies a local anesthetic, and then uses a cooled drill to remove the filling. Shortly thereafter, an advanced high-speed suction is used to remove any loose amalgam from your mouth. The drill is purposely cooled because any amount of heat may release the harmful vapors of mercury. After the filling is removed, the remaining site is thoroughly cleaned out and then replaced with a new material of your choice.

★★★★★ Just went here for a cleaning and checkup, wait was short. Xrays quick, dentist handled my cleaning, very personable and professional. I had gone to another dentist that recommended 5 cavities to be filled, here they showed me the xrays and what a cavity would look like since I didn't have any. Very honest and amazing experience. Thank you

★★★★★ Everyone in the office I have dealt with has been great. I have spent most of my time in the chair with Dr. Art, and he does a good job of making sure I am comfortable (I metabolize anesthesia like a hummingbird) and explaining issues and options well. I definitely recommend this office.
